Met Éireann has confirmed that the first half of this month has been the warmest on record, with the highest recorded temperature in Dublin since 1855. The BBC weather service has also announced that it has been the warmest October for 300 years. One rhinoceros at Dublin Zoo is reported to have gotten confused and to have gone into heat this month, something that normally only happens in the summer months, as it takes between 10 and 16 hours of good sunlight for this to occur.
