Some growers got the chance to attend the Special Olympics Opening and closing ceremonies courtesy of Sylvan Ireland.
Those who went to the "Opening Ceremonies" were Brian Wright and Anthony Mullan. They were able to enjoy the fabulous pre-Games atmosphere, and revel in the climactic show -setting all-star line up introducing the event to the Irish nation and to the worldwide television audience.
Bernadette Tiffany and Rosemary Harte then got the chance to go to the closing ceremony – another star studded occasion, celebrating the considerable achievements of all the participating Olympians. The atmosphere at this ceremony was also fantastic, a fitting finale to a spectacularly staged Games.
This is the first time the games have been held outside the United States and to have been selected as host country was both an honour and a huge opportunity for the people of Ireland.
The buzz around the country was palpable to everyone.
