With all the brouhaha around international trading norms being upended with the latest US government - it's interesting to note that the Brexit saga and all its trading ramifications is still causing lots of bother to the Britain-Ireland supply chain.
With headlines like “New Brexit rules risk leaving gaps on shop shelves by July” the GB/ NI trade is squarely on the news agenda again. New labelling requirements for NI bound goods is one sticking point. Neil Johnstone of the Northern Ireland Retail Consortium was quoted as saying “We are not Del Boy and Rodney.” We’d all be laughing in the supermarket aisles if it was in any way funny.
Is there potentially moves afoot to reintegrate the UK economy into the EU? Maybe not, but as Del Boy was fond of saying - “ You know it makes sense.”
The world of trade is certainly changing rapidly these days.
