A new study in the UK will investigate farm household income and reliance on government subsidies and non-farm earnings.
Led by Professor Paul Wilson, the project will explore how much farm households depend on these income sources, how different farm types and regions fare, and whether farm families face greater financial hardship than non-farm rural households.
The research will use various data sources, including the Farm Business Survey, to estimate farm income and compare it to non-farm earnings.
The findings will inform policymakers about the financial realities of farming households and help shape future support policies.
