Also speaking at the 45th AMGA in New Zealand was Teagasc’s Dr Eoghan Corbett on the subject of alternative growth mediums for the Irish horticulture sector - with special regard for mushroom casing.
The on-going search for casing alternatives is specifically focussed on how their hydrological behaviour affects mushroom quality and yield.
Stalker notes that apparently discussions were robust at times, and the new peat free mushrooms from Monaghan Mushrooms, supplied to Sainsbury’s were also quite the talking point.
