Stalker noted this little snippet following a design expo which took place last month in Paris.
“Of note was a paravent made of panels of mycelium by Fanny Perrier, one of seven designers and architects commissioned to produce furniture with Reishi. This is the first time I have seen something attractive and well-finished in the material, but although naturally grown like fungi, it’s still sealed with a petroleum-based coating, so not quite as sustainable as everyone suggests.”
The writer was impressed, obviously, but found a fly in the ointment so to speak. The road to sustainable materials was always going to be uneven.
