A Pennsylvania startup which grows mushroom-based coffins with support from Penn State Law clinics is hoping to disrupt both the wellness and funeral industries.
Setas Eternal Living and Setas Mushrooms create both a human-sized coffin and a pet-sized coffin. Max Justice the company founder says: “I kept asking why — why are we burying people in steel coffins, wood, cloth liners or wool shrouds? I wondered: Can we get to a carbon-negative option? And I found it — in fact, I grow it. I grow coffins that are carbon negative.”
