Autumn leaf displays could take longer than normal to appear this year because of the wet spring and cool summer.
The National Trust said traditional autumnal displays are becoming less common because of the warming climate but hopes remain for a dazzling display this year.
Meanwhile on the ground so far this year the expected explosion of mushrooms has been slow to get started.
A late fungal florescence is a possibility this year too following the wet and cool conditions that have gone before.
