A French engineer has built a website that uses data to show where to find mushrooms — but his critics say professional pickers will use it to strip the forests bare.
Traditionalists accuse him of disclosing secret spots known only to locals. He however sees himself as providing an essential service for city dwellers who want to take up ancestral rural practices.
Certainly the mystique of mushroom hunting loses out with talk of apps, maps and alerts. Stalker reckons this is a story which will run and run.
