A biodiversity disaster could happen as a result of an increase in numbers of people growing mushrooms in their garden according to some experts.
Scientists at Kew Garden and RHS Wisley have voiced concerns that exotic fungi being grown in gardens could end up spreading through soil and altering the microbiology therein.
The fear is of exotic organisms taking over native habitats, like Japanese knotweed and other invasive species have done previously.
