The Irish statistics office the CSO has produced a calculation of the costs of a family-sized fry-up in the run-up to St Patrick's Day. The stats are not unlike the Ulster Fry Index reported on these pages previously. With mushrooms being an integral component of the fry it is always interesting to see what it is happening on this price front. The CSO took the national average price of mushrooms per kg: January 2023 - €3.97 to January 2024 - €4.28. The rise in the average price of mushrooms is just below 8 percent. Overall the cost of the full Irish rose by 3.1 percent over the year.
