With the wettest February on record in some parts of the UK, the presence of low pressure over the whole country made the start of March a never-ending damp squib.
That record rainfall in February had its biggest impact in East Anglia, the Midlands and south Wales, causing farmers to warn of sodden ground and lower yields, while the absence of frost for long periods will have a negative influence on apple and pear trees and the crops we can expect from them.
Meanwhile March of many weathers has produced more frosts, hail and thunder snow. It came in like a lion and looks like it might go out like one too.
