New data from the Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed that there was a sharp decline in farming costs and prices in January.
The CSO’s agricultural input and output price indices fell by 15.9 percent and 13.8 percent respectively in the 12 months to the end of January.
The indices monitor trends in prices paid to farmers for their produce and prices paid by farmers for purchases of goods and services.
Meanwhile Teagasc has recently published a report which has confirmed that combined input costs have risen by 40% across Ireland’s horticultural sectors since 2021.
