If you’ve been to the cinema lately, you can’t have missed the trailers for part two of the Dune movie. At over 5 hours for both films it helps if you are a sci-fi aficionado.
Stalker was interested to read that the fungal life cycle underpins the 1965 classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert that the movie is based on.
New Scientist carried an item this month stating that -” For almost six decades, fans of the epic space saga have looked at it from many angles, from colonialism to religious fanaticism, but I was blown away to discover, on reading mycologist Paul Stamets’s book Mycelium Running, that “much of the premise of Dune came from his [Herbert’s] perception of the fungal life cycle”.
Stalker will have to go watch all five hours plus again it seems.
