There seems to be a shift in consumer attitudes to plant-based ‘meat’ products in western markets.
The view of US consumers on the healthy aspect of such replacement products has evidently declined.
No doubt the traditional food lobbies are fighting the encroachment of plant-based foods into the marketplace.
But as one chief exec of a real meat grown in lab start-up commented, “ The barriers for plant-based meat are not the level of processing, but rather the taste and the cost.” Taste and cost are everything.
