New figures from the Irish Health and Safety Authority (HSA) show that 43 people lost their lives in work-related incidents in 2023 in Ireland.
That compares with a figure of 28 deaths in 2022.
Farming accounted for 16 fatalities, while 11 of the deaths occurred in construction. Both sectors accounted for over two thirds of all fatalities in 2023.
These stats are always a sobering reminder that agriculture workers especially have to be careful out there.
