The effects of Brexit are still being felt in Ireland 3 years on from the actual event. Imports from Britain were down a quarter in the year to November according to goods trade figures published by the CSO.
Meanwhile imports from Northern Ireland are up 50 per cent in the same period. Britain accounted for 11 per cent of Ireland's Total exports in November, while 42 per cent went to the EU and 25 percent went to the US.
The ins and outs of the balance of trade are always interesting to the wider economic picture. Politically though the ramifications of Brexit seem more turbulent - viz the recent super strikes in the North and the ongoing impasse on the Windsor Agreement which was delivered over a year ago now.
With all the elections due to happen over the next year or so - east, west, south, north, the political board will be shaken up for sure over the next 12 months.
Also with recent developments in the North, the effects of Brexit can be clearly seen affecting things today.
