More from the Irish CSO with stats showing that farming input costs and output prices fell sharply last year. The data shows that falling energy prices and other costs - mainly fertiliser prices, associated with the war in Ukraine, had major effects on agricultural prices and costs in Ireland.
The CSO’s agricultural input and output price indices fell by 15.7 and 16.3 percent in the year ending November. The indices monitor prices paid to farmers for their produce and prices paid by farmers for purchases of goods and services.
If geo-political events don’t upset the cart, it's possible that a more moderate rate of inflation will prevail over the next 12 month period.
