California now has an official state mushroom. The Californian Golden Chanterelle was nominated to become the official state mushroom and late last month Governor Gavin Newsom signed the required official papers necessary to elevate the mushroom to recognised State symbol status. It is quite a nice idea to have an official mushroom - perhaps in this country we could look at taking on official mushroom status - even for different counties it could be an idea.
