One popular glossy magazine recently included mushrooms in there Health Extra pages.
Mushrooms came in at number 12 ahead of berries for their healthy properties.
In the item the fact that mushrooms produce their own Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight was highlighted.
“ This vitamin can support the reduction of inflammation within our body and in turn our skin,” said Lorraine Perretta, head of nutrition at Advanced Nutrition Programme. The piece went on to say - “Choose UV enriched mushrooms at the supermarket, or boost the vitamin D in fresh mushrooms by slicing and popping on a sunny windowsill for a few hours before cooking.”
Stalker’s not at all sure about that second bit of advice. Maybe someone out there could clarify?
