This year should deliver a fine vintage for British wine as a result of the sunny weather at either end of the summer and the wetter middle period, experts have said.
Guy Barter, chief horticulturist at the Royal Horticultural Society, said growers would be looking to harvest their grapes quickly before October’s rain and cold rots them.
He added that a larger crop does not necessarily produce better wine. Stalker will raise a glass to that sentiment.
