Recently Stalker was taken out to a local forest park on a fungal foray by a keen young mycology maven.
The variety of fungal species on a short foray were a wonder to behold.
This summer in Ireland with its wet and humid conditions has been excellent for the explosive growth of many wild mushrooms and we are lucky to have such a wealth of fungal biodiversity on our doorsteps.
One note of caution though - whilst out lurking around the undergrowth and photographing the different specimens - one is particularly exposed to the dangers of ticks and tick borne infections.
So take care out there if you go down to the woods!
Also if foraging for mushrooms to eat - only ever sample a mushroom if you are 100% certain that it is edible!
One is edible, one is not - the differences are evident, but only with expert tutelage
