The latest use heralded in the press of psilocybin, the magic ingredient in magic mushrooms, is for anorexia patients.
A small study in the journal Nature Medicine has indicated that the use of psilocybin could be a safe and effective way to treat anorexia.
Of course these results are very preliminary - but once again the idea that this powerful chemical hallucinogen may have a therapeutic use in one of the most devastating mental health issues of our time is quite awe-inspiring.
It must be hoped that if these findings bear scrutiny then every effort is made by the researchers involved to move the process along quickly to get to useable treatments for those afflicted throughout the globe.
