The amount of articles in the newspapers of late re the upsurge in middle class usage of magic mushrooms, micro-dosing and the like, dinner parties with a mushroom edge - you could say, as they do, that mushrooms of the magic variety are having a moment.
But Stalker was startled to see the name of Janet Yellen linked to magic mushrooms on the front of the Times newspaper this month. You may know the name, Ms Yellen is the US Treasury secretary, and was in China for some high level economic talks recently. However some of her behaviour while out there seemed a tad out of place, allegedly - you know the way these diplomatic missions are all about protocol. Anyway - she was apparently bowing too much at one event. Next thing you know professors of botany are enlisted to discuss the possible hallucinogenic effects of a mushroom that had been consumed by Ms Yellen at a restaurant.
“Our staff said she loved the mushrooms very much. She ordered four portions of jian shou qing. It was an extremely magical day,” according to the restaurant.
Professor Peter Mortimer of Kunning institute of botany, Yunnan, told CNN reporters that the mushroom inquisition was considered poisonous as it could be hallucinogenic; Although it is thought to lose any psychedelic effect if cooked properly.
“ I have a friend who accidentally ate them and hallucinated for three days,” he said.
