Diageo, the biggest spirits company in the world and the owners of Guinness, is worried that climate change will negatively affect one of their essential ingredients, namely water.
Water security poses the biggest risk to the drinks company according to Michael Alexander, head of water, environment and agriculture sustainability at Diageo. The prospect of ongoing drought is certainly occupying the world's largest spirits company.
More heatwaves, more dry spells and disrupted weather patterns all add up to increasing risk for industries reliant on water.
