The leading multiples in the UK have formed a task force that will fund independent audits on British farms to eliminate the risk of worker exploitation in their supply chains according to media reports.
The grocers involved include Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, and Waitrose. Aldi, Co-op Asda and Morrisons are also involved.
The grocers told suppliers that they will fund audits of the UK-based recruitment companies licensed to hire seasonal labourers, involving surveys of workers on farms.
