Stalker’s eye was attracted by an item on turbulence and its connection to climate change recently.
Apparently there has been an increase in turbulence on aeroplane journeys which has been associated with climate change.
You can probably look up some recent footage from a Lufthansa flight this month, which captured the aftermath of severe turbulence - food covering the aircraft floor and passengers sitting in shocked silence, some holding hands across the aisles.
Cruising level wind shear over the North Atlantic has risen 15 percent over the past 40 years. Scientists predict that clear-air turbulence - stuff which cannot be seen by radar or pilots - could treble over the next 50 years unless CO2 emissions are slashed.
Anyway, just something to think about if you’re heading on holidays, or to the latest mushroom growing symposium. Buckle up is the message!
