New figures from Kantar show that grocery inflation in Ireland now stands at a record high of 15.4% for the 12-week period ending December 25, 2022.
Kantar said this is higher than UK grocery price inflation. Although there is obviously some discrepancy in the UK figures, the message seems clear that food price inflation in Ireland is pretty high.
However the general rate of inflation covering all sectors and categories eased to 8.2 percent in December, down from 8.9 percent the previous month.
