Electric car sales in Ireland jumped by 81 percent last year - that is quite a percentage leap even if the numbers are quite modest. CSO stats show that the number of EVs registered rose sharply with a total of 15,462 new e-cars licensed.
But reading about British and European manufacturers of electric vehicles - they are slowing production because the vehicles are too expensive for the vast majority of motorists.
Note also the sharp €8K drop in the price of a new Tesla just this month - because demand has slumped due to the price. Demand for BEV’s - battery electric vehicles - is slowing for sure, as the costs associated with buying a new one are making consumers seek out cheaper options.
And whatever you do, do not mention range anxiety.
