Thirty years ago in December 1992 the mushroom trade was being affected by a closure at Larne Harbour, after a fatal accident there closed the port for at least two days.
One salient feature in that issue is the amount of compost makers extant locally back then: - Derryvale Compost, Reen, S.Hughes & Co, Murphy of Mayobridge, McGeary Mushroom Compost Ltd, Greenhill Compost Ltd, J C Reid Compost. Just a flavour of the vibrant local scene back then.
There were lots of Christmas parties, christenings and comings and goings back then too.
