The new RTÉ 1 horticulture television programme featured a segment on Monaghan Mushrooms on Monday 14th of November.
The prime time, glossily produced and breezy jaunt through the latest events in horticulture circles in Ireland took the trip to Tyholland to investigate the art of growing in the dark.
The cathedral-like growing rooms in the Tyholland facility were a wonder to behold, gleaming shelving racks stacked high and everything controlled by computers.
CEO Paul Wilson was on hand to show the cameras the substrate and explain the circular economy of the product.
MBio chief exec Jude Wilson was in white coat mode explaining the ins and outs of the mushroom microbial life.
And John Hall of Monaghan was in the growing room picking a mushroom from amongst the myriad growing on a shelf, explaining how if the shelf wasn’t picked properly then there'd be a problem.
All in all a bright and breezy jaunt through the hi-tech mushroom world that exists in Monaghan. You can catch it on RTÉ player if you missed it first time around..
