It seems as though war has broken out in the foraging world in southern France.
Reports have been circulating of gangs clearing areas of forest of ceps and milk caps.
Different regions of the country are being targeted by different gangs, competing against locals who forage also.
Apparently one group were caught trying to drive more than £1000 worth of wild mushrooms across the eastern French border at the start of October. The gangs sell the wild mushrooms to the restaurant trade for quite eye-watering sums.
