The economics editor of The Times newspaper asked the question this month - is the world heading for a period of disinflation?
Takes a brave enough forecaster to imply prices will be heading downwards when we are in the middle of an inflation surge.
But one supposes the old adage holds true, that what goes up must come down. We are seeing some slight relief in the fuel prices at the moment, but there are plenty of things that need to continue to go the right way if we are to see prices come down as he foresees.
UK data just in shows the level of inflation running at 10.1 percent up to July.
The forecasts are for inflation to hit around 14 percent in the UK by January.
Depending on who one believes, there could be a good bit more price pain on the horizon.
