Shop prices rose at their fastest pace in 14 years last month as the rising cost of materials such as fertilisers continued to push up the price of food.
In Ireland the general rate of inflation was 9.1 per cent in the past month, but the feeling is that food price and fuel price inflation is outstripping that rate.
The price of chemical fertiliser rose because of high fuel prices and the war in Ukraine which has disrupted supply.
