The front page headline says it all - “ Golden Era Of Cheap Food Is Over, Households Told.” So ran the top headline in The Guardian on Saturday May 14th.
It’s a telling moment in the national press, when the price of food dominates the front pages.
The “cost of living” crisis which has both slowly then suddenly enveloped western, and global economies, is the defining crisis of our age according to some politicians.
The climate emergency is suddenly a bit more in the back seat, and the spectre of nuclear war has even receded a little.
It’s hard to keep up with the crises that are enveloping us, from energy, to food, to war, climate and disease.
