Sales of second-hand electric cars have apparently surged in the UK to new record highs as motorists shun petrol models because of fuel price hikes.
Nearly 15,000 used battery electric vehicles were bought in the UK in the first three months of the year according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders ( SMMT).
That’s nearly triple the amount from the year before.
Meanwhile sales of ordinary used cars are being fuelled by a shortage in key parts like microchips.
But demand for cars of all sorts, new, used and EV's is being dampened by the cost of living crisis enveloping the UK and Europe.
