New advice from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to gardeners that they should stop massacring mushrooms that grow in their lawns is certainly welcome to fungiphile ears.
In an attempt to repair the bad reputation of mushrooms, the RHS is planning to propagate fungi in it's gardens for the first time in 200 years.
The society hopes to educate people about the important role they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Visitors to Wisley, the RHS’s celebrated garden in Surrey, will from next year be able to admire a specially grown selection of locally found species, including beautiful, sculptural oyster mushrooms and coral tooth fungus.
