Opec and other oil producing nations have agreed to pump 400,000 extra barrels of oil per day in January.

The move comes after some pressure from the US and others for leading oil producers to increase crude production.

However the cartel is reportedly keeping a close eye on how the market is responding to the new Omicron Covid-19 variant.
