It was lockdown fears in Europe which apparently set the euro tumbling against sterling in late November.
The emergence of the new variant though has raised the spectre of more drastic measures in the UK too. Although the jury is out on how virulent and transmissible the new variant is, experts predict it will be Christmas before we know with any certainty what lies ahead.
Meanwhile the currency and market fluctuations and volatility are surely set to continue. So it goes.
