The cost of food commodities that make up the typical breakfast has soared to its highest point in a decade with the combining strains of bad weather and supply chain crunches pushing prices upward.
The mushroom of course can be regarded as a breakfast food in it's role as a vital constituent of a fry up - choose the nationality of your choice there.
Analysts warn that higher costs for production, processing and transport will keep prices elevated.
Stalker has yet to notice if prices on the supermarket shelves are up for the fresh mushroom produce - but it is unlikely that as prices go up that mushroom prices will not rise too.
The question is will growers benefit or will any gains be simply swallowed by the increase in costs across the board.
