In November 2001 growers in the North were welcoming the arrival of MIANI on the scene. The Mushroom Industry Association of Northern Ireland had their inaugural meeting in Armagh with Gordon Orr saying that the sector had been underrepresented for years.
The formation of MIANI was welcomed by DARD minister Bríd Rodgers.
