A report out of Estonia suggests that peat could be used to make cheap sodium-ion batteries for use in electric vehicles.
According to scientists at Tartu University, the batteries which do not contain costly lithium, cobalt or nickel, could replace the dominant lithium-ion model.
The process involves heating decomposed peat in a furnace for two to three hours.
