Dozens of people have been fined by the City of London Corporation for mushroom picking in Epping Forest.
One picker was caught with more than 100lb of mushrooms. The Corporation said that mushrooms are being illegally picked and sold to restaurants and markets.
27 people have been prosecuted and handed fines for illegal mushroom picking in the past seven years. The chairman of the Epping Forest and Commons Committee, Graeme Doshi-Smith, said : “ We are urging people not to pick mushrooms in any quantity.”
