Monthly rainfall in the South was just a fraction of the norm last month. Weather stations across the state recorded absolute drought in the month of June - makes sense that we’re hearing now that the water supply is getting tighter!
Water of course is one of the main constituents of mushroom growing and we are generally plentifully supplied here in Ireland. However climate change is beginning to show it's hand all over, including in Ireland.
The recent extreme heat warning in Northern Ireland by the Met Office is a new development ( although it is just a newly developed warning system). This is the first year the UK Met Office has issued extreme heat warnings.
The scenes of floods in Europe and China this month were more worrying to see. Also looking at the fires in North America and Siberia, the planetary climate and weather patterns do seem to be getting more extreme.
North America recorded it's hottest June on record, and Europe recorded it's second hottest June on record - things is hotting up.
