Food and drink exports from the UK to the EU have fallen by almost a half according to the most recent reports. Sales to Ireland, previously the UK’s biggest food and drink exports market, fell by more than two thirds to £281m.
Meanwhile cross border trade in Ireland has rocketed due to Brexit. Exports to Northern Ireland from the South are 40 percent above where they were in 2020, and 54 percent above the same period in 2018.
Stalker ain’t going to mention sausages, nor call anyone a silly sausage. Realignments of trade are obviously in the offing, here’s hoping the way ahead is smoother than many imagine it will be.
