The unseasonably cold weather in Ireland this May might have one beneficial effect - there could be a bumper harvest of strawberries.

British strawberry producers are expecting bigger and juicier berries this year as the bad weather meant they have ripened more slowly.

With Irish temperatures definitely on the chillier side for the month of May, growers here may well expect the same juicy bump to the harvest.
