DUST DEPOSITS

Apparently over 14 million tonnes of Saharan dust was deposited over continental Europe, the UK and Ireland in the last week of February.

You may well have noticed the filmy dust covering your cars at the end of last month. That sure is a lot of stuff falling from the skies.

Each year more than 180 million tons of dust blow out from North Africa, lofted out of the Sahara Desert by strong seasonal winds.

The mind boggles at such massive amounts of desert matter soaring through the atmosphere.
