Britain recorded it lowest temperature this century during the February cold snap, with a minus 23C in Braemar in the Highlands of Scotland. The beastliness from the east finally arrived, and we even got a touch of it here in Ireland.
The Scottish low was the coldest night in 25 years.
Although there was some travel disruption, it was short-lived. Temperatures bounced up beyond 10C within days.
Maybe that is the worst that winter is going to throw at us this year, but don’t dispense with your snow tyres just yet.
