It was a good year for the mushrooms in the annual food and drink exports figures published by Bord Bia in January.
Sectoral analysis of the Irish export performance showed that horticultural exports were up by 8 per cent. But the star of the show were mushrooms, with exports up by 14 per cent to €115 million.
All during this year the anecdotal reports from within the industry were that sales were buzzing, and the figures from Bord Bia certainly confirm that the mushroom sector had a stellar year.
