Peatlands could apparently release more than 100 billion tons of carbon this century if more is not done to protect them, according to a new study.
In the first global review of potential carbon emissions from peat found that 104 billion tons could be released by the year 2100 as the world’s wetlands degrade.
It would appear that the time has come (if it is not too late), to protect peatlands and hence the environment for the betterment of our shared future on this planet.
